Web Design

Where fluid layout and humane design provide a unique user experience

Color Theory Learning Object
This learning object “Illuminating Impressions” is an online learning object intended to help web designer students and professionals understand key concepts in color as it relates to the web, to improve their color scheme designs. The Color Theory learning object demonstrates my ability to apply pedagogical concepts from educational psychology into the design of an interactive online experience.
The learning object utilizes a constructivist teaching methodology in order to provide a rich educational experience which facilitates reflection and knowledge expansion.

Olin Health Center
The Olin Health Center website marks one of my first experiences in the web design area. Most of the design wasn't completed by me, however the search engine, browse categories, staff directory and administration side are all examples of my design.

College of Arts & Letters
The College of Arts & Letters needed to provide a way for alumni of the Justin Morrill College to connect with each other. The project required building a password protected alumnus area where each alumni had their own login information and could edit their personal information.
The solution included a login screen, password reminder, the ability to browse/search the directory and each user could change their personal information. This project also allowed an administrator to login and administer the users.

Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts and Humanities
The Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts and Humanities required a website redesign. Their site was outdated, and unorganized.
The solution involved redesigning the layout of the website to allow all users an easy to use and informative web site. The design was smooth, elegant and efficient delivered the information needed to the end user. Learn about the programming.

MSU today
What happens when the reach of a magazine can only go so far? When thousands of alumni, students, and friends of Michigan State Univserity need to keep in touch with the daily happenings around campus? A world wide web site is established to help inform them 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
That is exactly what happened when University Relations created MSU Today online. This site represents a connection point for hundreds of thousands of people who are interested with MSU. A mailing list with over 40,000 subscribers shows that MSU today is a serious information provider for MSU. All of this made possible with fluid design and efficient programming using PHP and MySQL.

photos.msu.edu
photos.msu.edu provides high quality photos for print or web use. This site was designed to push usability standards to another level with highly developed information architecture, and easy to use purchasing methods. It now holds over 500 high quality photos of people, places, and things from all over the MSU campus. This site is dynamically driven with a PHP/MySQL backend. Check out the programming.

MSU Official Graphics Standards
graphics.msu.edu provides copyrighted graphics with permission from MSU. The design is simple but effectively delivers the photos in many formats to the user. Check out the programming.
